about

NaySay was really the work of Josh Johnson who sent in a few cassettes to something called The 25¢ Soul Project back in 1998. One of those songs was given the title "Brown Deer, WI" after Josh's hometown. Later that same year, work began on a second batch of songs as NaySay.

Lil' Red Wagon requested a song for a 7" and was given "Same Old Song." Of the single the 7" appeared on, Patrick Rapa in the Philidelphia Citypaper said "...Naysay are [one of] the real reasons to pick this record up. And remember: Just because it was made in a bedroom doesn’t mean it sucks. You were probably made in a bedroom and you don’t suck. You’re the best."

These songs compile the remaining recordings made by NaySay, mixed at various points between 1998 and 2001, and released in 2012 for the first time.

This is My Mean Magpie no. 34.
